Will the board have to have his replacement signed off on by Obama now that they took the money??

Why not, since like more and more of the economy, they have an investment of "the people's" money.

We have really crossed a Rubicon, of some sorts, in the last six months, and more so in the last 60 days.

Where are we headed ?

Obama and his aides may have honed in on Wagoner for two reasons. First, his company is asking for the most in total federal aid: $26 billion, a figure administration officials fear could grow even larger. Second, the GM chief was tied more directly to the ill-fated decisions that that brought much of the American auto industry to the brink of collapse. Wagoner joined GM in 1977, has had a senior role in GM management since 1992, and became CEO of the company in 2000. He is considered responsible for increasing GM's focus on trucks and SUVs—at the expense of the hybrids and fuel efficient cars that have become more popular in the last couple of years.

This is worrisome.

Politically correct economic decisions will be paramount, just like those stupid lightbulbs!

Thanks AL Gore for ruining the economy of the entire planet.

as the states take all this stimulus/bailout money for their inability to run their operations, does Obama have the right to ask all the governors/legislators to step down, to be replaced by suitable Obamanistas?

Twenty two hours (since posting) and no one has commented on your insight!

The only problem, as I see it, is that, at this volatile time, we could either go to an ACORN-style usurpation of our State governments, or we could go to a Ron Paul, stripped-down version, and it could go either way.

Who wants to buy a car made by the government??

Alternate question:

Who wants to buy a car made by a bunch of pissed off UAW workers?

just as it is my right to purchase whatever vehicle (or snack food, or household appliance) I wish.

So far, but that could CHANGE with the new political mantra.

BTW, I like the HHR also.

Wish I could afford to buy one.

It’s gotta be the cheapest bang for the buck out there.

It’s my last hurrah as far as factory hot rods go.

GM has disbanded their performance division. Until further notice, there will be no more “high performance” vehicles (other than those already being built) from GM.

It’s sad, really.

Obama Fires General Motors CEO in Government-Backed Union Coup
RUSH: Was that not prophetic or what? So Rick Wagoner is out. I have a question. Does anybody know whether Barack Obama knows how to change a tire? Does anybody know whether Barack Obama knows how to use a tire gauge? Does he know anything about this? Do any of the people on his auto task force have the slightest idea about the mechanics of an automobile, the designing of an automobile, the manufacturing of an automobile, and of course the marketing and sale? Now we’re in the warranty business, too, ladies and gentlemen. I don’t know if you know this or not but starting today the United States government will stand behind your warranty on a newly purchased General Motors car. Now, that’s going to be cool, isn’t it? You take your car in for a problem and you’re going to have to argue with the government representative you’re dealing with as to whether or not it’s really a problem and whether you caused it. You think dealing with the DMV is a struggle now, wait ‘til this kicks into gear.

re: Wagoner, fuel efficient cars

I’m sure, after the Sierra Club, regulators and almighty congress got ahold of them. It’s not like they could guarantee gas prices to make it profitable... and as you said, and we see on the lots now, no one wants them.

And also, the UAW really knows how to take advantage of a crisis... adding to what we have now.

Help! to All:
Those who know, please clue me in.

From what’s happened so far (and i’m a rube who knows nothing), it would appear many laws broken by the administration.

For sure when he guaranteed the warranties of a particular company (unfair practice, competition, Robinson-Patman, maybe Latham on property, Simpson?) and when he put the union requirement re: fed contracts in legislation (leaving out 88% of trade workers, regardless if the union says their rats or not). There are probably zillions of acts with particular usage that doesn’t apply, but which do?

But I know nothing of law or what these folks signed with the government (because I don’t know why the companies aren’t in courts and play along), so greater minds have to inform me.

Cause we KNOW that Union worker Democrat voter could NOT have built anything that was not top quality. Welcome to Communism for a Rich Country.
