Ethanol Producers Press for Higher Limits

The nation's ethanol producers are urging the Obama administration to raise the 10 percent limit on ethanol in motor fuel to 15 percent or more, a move they hope will create new demand at a time when many distilleries are idle.
The producers say higher ethanol blends would help create jobs and reduce petroleum imports. Moreover, without a change in the 10 percent limit, ethanol makers say it could be difficult to fulfill a congressional mandate for renewable fuel use and the makers of new forms of ethanol, which rely on raw materials other than corn, could be locked out of the fuel market.
"This is about jobs, energy security for America, improving the environment and meeting our legal responsibilities under the 2007 energy bill," said retired Gen. Wesley Clark, co-chairman of a group of ethanol firms called Growth Energy.
Growth Energy plans to formally request a waiver today from the Environmental Protection Agency to raise the ethanol content of motor fuel to 15 percent.

These statistics tend to favor gasoline as far as mileage comparison goes and during a 150 mile trip E85 (ethanol) averaged 13 mpg while gasoline got 18 mpg.

EAT FOOD, DON’T BURN IT
Does this mean I should periodically drain my car's gas tank out on the ground?
Not true. The majority of the studies show a positive energy return. The studies that show negative balances are all connected to a guy a Cornell named Pimentel, most authored directly by him, and a couple with one of his grad students (now a professor at another university).
And even if it DIDN'T have a net positive (which it does), it would STILL be worth doing, because most of the energy intput is NOT petroleum, but can be coal or nuclear (production of fertilizer). The fraction of PETROLEUM energy input is a tiny fraction of the total. And the result is a TRANSPORTATION fuel. So ethanol production can be viewed as equivalent to coal liquefaction, but by a different route.

See third chart.
whatta waste of corn.
increases cattle fattening and dairy feeding costs.
increases food costs—lots of foods have corn ingredients.
Fools are running the country. And until their unfounded ideas for a Utopian society have run their course the rest of us will just have to hunker down and prepare for life after the fools.
What a terrible waste of corn ethanol is...thanks a lot ADM.
Look to Brazil they did this right...the goal there was, real energy independence.
The parasite gypsy thieves at Archer-Daniels-Midland want to generate more business for themselves at the expense of the consumer under the ‘lie’ of energy independence.
Why not use trash weeds ADM? Oh that’s right...because then we wouldn’t need your ‘stuff’ would we.
I wouldn’t buy any Pilgrim’s Pride chicken any time soon. I wouldn’t be surprised at what those workers are doing to that chicken! They were told one morning (without warning) that their jobs would end within two weeks.

In my experience, the rust/rot comes if you leave the car sit for a while and there is condensation in the tank. Something with the water, but I'm no expert.
The gas tanks on two of my older vehicles rotted and began dripping. Just stop using ethanol blends and go back to real gasoline, especially if you have an older vehicle.
O-boy has really assembled a gaggle of pure dumb $hits for his management team. Just my opinion, mind you.
