In case anyone is interested,prior to running for mayor of Philadelphia in the late 60’s,Specter was a democrat. In fact he was the president of THE A.D.A-americans for democratic action -a very liberal group . He became a republican to run for mayor and lost by 10,000 votes. Ran in the repuplican primary for governor and lost.Finally became a senator.

As I’ve said many times, the GOP has been coopted by the demrat party. It is merely a demrat action arm. Presently there is no meaningful opposition party to the demrat party.
