MUNICH -- Richard Holbrooke, the Obama administration's new point man on Afghanistan and Pakistan, is expected to engage Iran as part of a broad effort to stabilize Afghanistan and combat the country's growing drug trade, according to officials briefed on the special representative's plans.
Many in the Obama administration believe that Iran and the U.S. share common interests when it comes to Afghanistan, these officials said. Tehran has been among the largest suppliers of financial and economic aid to Kabul since the overthrow of the Taliban in 2001, and these officials said they believe Iran may be willing to work with the U.S. to strengthen the fragile government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

That is our only hope now, if this man is as bad as some of us are starting to think. Many of us had our suspicions from the beginning and tried to warn everyone. Let’s pray that we still have patriots in the CIA,NSA,FBI and OUR MILITARY that would not allow this man to destroy our country without so much as a word.
How many Americans, particularly soldiers, have died because the Democrats refuse to recognize our enemies?
Big Mistake ... Best policy would have been for the US to buy up all available Afghan poppy crop so as not to make it available to the Talibunnies to sell for their profit. Buying Afghan poppies/opium would be a far better support to the Karzai Government than involving a terrorist-enabling nation who’s Butcher’s Bill goes back quite a few years.

There is something very nefarious going on here...that’s for sure. Over the weekend there was some article about Obama making a snarky statement about Karzi. They want to undermine him for some reason.
This is beyond madness. Does anyone actually believe for one second that he isn’t working for our enemies? I mean, you’ve got the impending closure of Guantanamo, bringing terrorists to our shores, the dropping of charges of terrorists, talk of pulling out of Iraq before the job is complete - you name it.
We are in serious trouble. Every single day, Obama puts one more nail in the coffin of this country.

I think the better question will be, what are we giving Iran in exchange for its so called help combating the Afghan drug trade?
