Read again what she said. Bush seldom went out and spoke directly to the people but Obama is doing just that. He’s wrong on the bill but that’s not the point. the point is, why didn’t Bush do this? It’s the ONLY thing Obama has gotten right.
I did read it. She's correct. He's got the right idea, but my goodness the idea, proposed solution and even the delivery is TERRIBLE.
I agree that Bush seldom went directly to the people. Part of it is I think he felt he was a doer, not a talker (whereas Obama seems a talker but not a doer). But another factor, frankly, was the hostile media. It seemed everytime he went before the media, they changed the focus from his message to his style of message. Furthermore, the Republican Party pretty much abandoned him once he became a lame duck way back in 2004. Obama has the media and apparently a fairly good alternate channel through the internet and cellphone numbers he gathered during his campaign. He also has alternate organizations such as ACORN and MoveOn pushing for him. The conservatives haven’t organized means outside the media to get out the information about their campaigns and causes. To what extent that is Bush’s fault is anyone’s guess.
No, he's gotten it wrong. It's making him look like a fool, especially if the thing doesn't pass.
He's over-exposing himself and wasting the political capital he had when he won.
But he has no choice because he didn't do the behind the scenes work to get people on board.
"Seldom"?...no.
Bush often gave speeches and held news conferences. It was the way the media covered him that made it appear like it was seldom.
Not that Bush wasn't to blame too. Bush's problem was that he never explained the common sense conservative approach very well.
