You'd do fine. My mother might have idly wondered aloud if MO had taken leave of her senses, but she would have been FURIOUS that the advisers who are supposed to have this woman's back wouldn't have steered her in a better direction.
She despised disloyalty, and anyone who let Mrs Obama come to the party dressed like that (when they clearly should have known better) is not her friend.
Maybe they are too afraid of her to tell her anything?
