I’m just going to address both of you at once since you both think my post demonstrated some sort of liberal guilt...
Let me make this perfectly clear — I could care less what is going on when Israel’s rockets hit their mark. Israel has already been WAY more patient than I think I ever could be were my home being pelted with rockets again and again.
What I was commenting on is the way the casualties are reported in the MSM when dealing with Hamas’, Lebanese, or Palestinian casualties - it is always accompanied by some mention of daily life, and/or always involves a group of children. This is not done for Israeli casualties (unless you are reading the Jerusalem papers, for instance...). It is a clear effort to control the way the news reaches the rest of the world in these conflicts. The Islamic Radicals and their supporters are not idiots - they know that if they provide the pictures, and the stories the Western papers will run them (if it bleeds it leads...). It doesn’t matter to them if the photos are “shopped”, or if the same pictures are used over and over — their goal is, as I said, to control the information heard in order to maximize most human beings’ compassion. Remember during the Lebanon War after a few weeks Israel was getting yelled at by the Global Community to stop bullying? All the while conveniently forgetting that Lebanon, Hamas, Hezbollah, and their supporters were the ones poking Israel over, and over again. I expect the same thing now — that Hamas, and their supporters will try to elicit the same “compassionate” response from the world as before by peppering their reports “from the front” with all manner of propaganda.
With that all said, I won’t apologize for praying and mourning the INNOCENT victims of any hostilities, anywhere... The ones who have no choice, and the ones who perhaps don’t agree with the brainwashed, frenzy-filled, hirabists among them in this case...
Again, this doesn’t mean that I am mourning the “activists” (as Neophyte called them) who are being taken out. I am fully aware that were the situation reversed they would be celebrating the deaths, and planning more.
