Is the National News Media Setting Up Barak Obama to Be a Failure?

Is the national news media setting up Barak Obama to be a failure? As absurd as that question may seem, there are enough reasons to suspect that such may eventually prove be the case.

First of all, the media has taken the position that President-elect Obama's election victory was a "peoples' mandate for change" and second in historical importance to only Franklin Roosevelt's 1932 landslide win. While this may indeed prove to be correct it is equally likely that' in the eyes of future historians, President Obama will be remembered as having gained the presidency by defeating one of the most mediocre opponents in electoral history; a candidate who made Gerald Ford seem dynamic and charismatic in comparison. Should he be defeated in 2012, will President Obama then be seen as having "lost his mandate?"

Then there are the numerous references to similarities in the public's perception of President-elect Barak Obama and that of then-President-elect Franklin Delano Roosevelt. As of this writing at least two nationally-circulated news and opinion magazines, Time and The New Yorker, have unmistakably caricatured the President-elect as FDR, complete with top hat and cigarette holder clinched in an exaggerated, toothy smile.

To be sure, both Presidents-elect were, and are, charismatic and both inherited unsettled economic times from their predecessors in office. The similarities end there.

Say what you will about George Bush, the simple fact remains that George Bush_was no Herbert Hoover. In the two last years of his presidency Hoover obstinately refused to even consider increased in government spending, in either the public or private sectors, as a means of recovery from what_was then a recession. On the other hand, George W. has given his blessings to the greatest raid on a national treasury since the barbarians carted off what was left of Fifth-Century Rome.

The media and the public turn against every leader fairly quickly.

I don’t expect it to be any different for BHO: if his Cabinet choices are any indication of what is to come a mixture of Chicagoland gangstas and Clintonistas is hardly the “change” that most were expecting.

Sharks circling already...I “hope”.

They created this media monster, and they can take him down anytime they want.

One of my old bosses, an advertising executive, advised me years ago to "always vote for the candidate the press hates the most." Being very young at the time, I didn't understand why he said that. Now I do.

The very same way they set up Jimmy Carter as a failure? They're still working on that one...

The only person that benefits from a one term President is Hillary. And the left is about to give her the foreign policy experience that Republicans always criticize the Democrats for not having.

Things that make you go Hmmmmmm.

I don’t think they are that smart. They are admitting that they were in the tank for the Obamessiah during the campaign and, IMO, they are thoroughly vested in his success because they have risked THEIR reputations (such as they are) as “journalists” to get him elected.

The Obamessiah will be his own undoing. He is in way over his head and has created such impossibly high expectations for his giveaways that he can’t possibly meet them all. I still believe that his supporters will start to figure out what a fraud he is about this time next year.

After that, it’s going to be a VERY bumpy ride to the end of his first (and only) term.

If BO is going to be POTUS, and it looks like he will, I want him to be a successful one so that we, as a nation, can reap the benefits of good government. The MSM is as low as you can become — about one step below Congress.

Hillary must know she will not take away the nomination from the Messiah in ‘12. Her only legit hope is ‘16 (although she would want 0bamber to lose in ‘12).

BHO is an arrogant, Stalinist thug. The Obamafuehrer will only be successful in his own mind if he creates a liberal, fascist police state.

I don't know if the media is intentionally setting Obama up for failure, but the expectations are so incredibly high, that I cannot see anything but failure in the future for him.

If Obama wasn't so incredibly arrogant and quite possibly very, very naive, I could almost feel sorry him BUT I don't!

“The media and the public turn against every leader fairly quickly.”

Zero will be allowed two months to get in the saddle.

Zero will be allowed four more months to complain about having to clean up “Bush’s problems.”

But the people, not the press, will demand solutions after those 6 months and Zero ain’t gonna have them.

It could get pretty rocky then but the press will do what they can.

Um. No. They just know that they themselves are guilty of hype. Cripe, the lowering of expectations began the day before the election when no one was paying attention.

Example: Jimmy Carter—Came in as a hero after the Nixon/Ford years. Democrats control it all and filibuster proof.

Unemployment during Carter years between 13%-15%

Inflation—Double digits

U S military— reduced and disabled.

Out at the end of four years! I can see a replay coming to our country very soon!
