The announcement should be taken into account because the information in the announcement came from the birth hospital to the Vital Records Bureau. That is how the announcement made it into the paper. How can this be explained if indeed Obama was born in Kenya?
There is a difference between unsealing a record and releasing a record against state statute. There is a state law in Hawaii that prevents the release of the vault form. That was my only point. Not that it was impossible or wrong, just more complicated that some might think.
We do not even know what hospital he was born in so to assume that the hospital provided this information is assuming a lot. We do not know when the mother left Kenya.
There is no record which cannot be revealed subject to a subpoena or court order. The laws are as such to prevent the release of BC just wily-nily not for legitimate purposes such as ascertaining qualifications for the presidency.
In most states it is illegal to release the original vault form, but they will provide certified copies of the original vault form. A certified copy of the original vault form is what genealogists use becase it does provide more information than the short form certificate.
If Obama was adopted at any time in his life by Soretero, his grandparents, etc. in Hawaii, then the short form could have been changed to to reflect the place of birth as the location of the adoption, but the original vault copy might show the birth in another location or another country.
This change is commonly done to allow foreign children adopted by U.S. citizens to obtain citizenship without having to apply for naturalization. They are, however, not considered to be natural born citizens.
Genealogists want a certified copy of the original vault certificate, because they are tracing ancestrial blood lines and if someone was adopted a short form would not provide sufficient information if a person had been adopted. I find it hard to beleive that Hawaii would have a law that they could not release a certified copy of the original vault copy.
Without seeing a certified copy of the original vault copy, we do not know for certain that Obama was even born in Hawaii. It is my understanding that Hawaii issued certifications of birth to individuals that were not born in Hawaii. I haven’t heard yet how the birth would be listed if someone had been born outside of Hawaii.
I hope this helps to explain why a certified copy of the vault copy would be needed to prove that Obama was born in Hawaii, and determine if he is a natural born citizen.
