Council ranks term 'British' with 'negroes' and bans it....

The word ‘British’ can be as offensive as ‘negro’ and ‘half-caste’, according to a race relations body.

The publicly-funded organisation’s views have been adopted by Caerphilly council in South Wales for a leaflet advising staff on how to deal with the public.

In a section on what words or phrases not to use to avoid causing offence, the leaflet solemnly informs the council’s 9,000 workers: ‘The idea of “British” implies a false sense of unity – many Scots, Welsh and Irish resist being called British and the land denoted by the term contains a wide variety of cultures, languages and religions.’

But Tory MP David Davies, MP for Monmouth said: ‘There’s absolutely nothing offensive about describing people as British.

‘This is political correctness gone mad. Organisations like this are using public money to propagate their own narrow nationalistic ideas.

Nobody cares about the English. They are the “majority” culture (75% of the population), and not being a minority, they are therefore of no importance (except as a punching bag for everyone elses insecurities).

That is a VERY worrying trend. There are Irish nationalists, and Welsh nationalists, and Scottish nationalists, and we can just about handle their foibles and whining, but if English nationalism rises it’s the end of the Union. No question.

The English, Irish and Scots have a similiar dilemma, and immigration is indeed an issue as it is in the USA.

Nobody in U.S. politics has the filberts to address it.

We have open warfare in the streets with rival ethnic oriented gang bangers. It is more racist to ignore this at the expense of the republic itself.

The Hindu nationalists in India (BJP) have it right, the international interlopers and cultural terrorists are the ruin of civilization. We share common enemies.

They obviously want to confuse the issue of Britons who stand up for their country... It is like confusing the Democrat/Republican tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum with “conservatism” (whatever the hell that means anymore) in the USA.

It seems to me that the English have a just gripe. Scots, Welsh and N. Irish have independent parliaments w/o English participation or votes but the English have only one parliament that at Westminster and the Welsh, the Scots and the Irish all cast votes there even on purely English matters.
Just does not seem fair that the British Scots, Welsh and Irish can decide for themselves w/o English influence on matters pertaining to their respective lands but the English must yield to the votes of the Scots, Welsh and Irish in matters pertaining only to England.

What makes it even worse is that the Scots have a higher representation in Westminster than their population justifies, and affairs are dominated by Scots anyway. Gordon Brown is Scottish, Menzies Campbell (ex leader of the liberal democrats) is Scottish, theres a whole raft of Scottish Nationalist MP’s who don’t give a toss for anything outside of Jockland. Even Tony Blair was born in Edinburgh - and half his cabinet were Scots.

And they sit there and whine that they are “oppressed”...
