Obama's Socialist Background (Vanity)

The small sample of information below shows that the concerns about Obama’s socialist (and even Marxist) tendencies are not based on a few instances of choosing his words unwisely or his acquaintance with someone who just happens to live in his neighborhood. It is based on a lifetime of dedication to radical socialism.

Redistribution of wealth may be the least of our problems with a President who says that it’s too bad that the Warren court “didn’t break [the United States] free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution” (see 2001 interview below)

• Wrote in "Dreams From My Father" of his time living in Hawaii with his grandmother from 1971-1979 about a close relationship ("almost like father & son"), with Frank Marshall Davis. Davis was identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and had fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."

• 1979-1981 attended Occidental in Los Angeles, graduated 1983 Columbia University. Other than what he wrote in his 1995 autobiography “Dreams From My Father”, revealing that during his student years at Columbia he “went to Socialist Scholars Conferences” and "To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully, the more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Marxist professors", The New York Times reported, "Obama declined repeated requests to talk about his New York years, release his Columbia transcript or identify even a single fellow student, co-worker, roommate or friend from those years." The same is true of his time in Los Angeles.

• Not long after Davis died in 1987, Obama befriended another black nationalist-socialist, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who, like Davis, wore a dashiki and became a father figure. Obama sat in Wright’s church listening to his sermons for 20 years, Wright performed Obama’s wedding ceremony, baptized Obama’s children and provided the title for his book “The Audacity of Hope”. By his own admission, Obama consulted with Wright before making any "bold political decisions" and called him his "spiritual advisor." Rev. Wright professes in his sermons (among many anti-American and radical ideas) that the government created AIDS and crack to keep black people down and proclaims “no, not God BLESS America, God D*MN America.”

  (In June 2008, Obama disavowed Wright and resigned from the Trinity Church out of concern for his political career.)

• From 1985 to 1988, Obama worked for the Developing Communities Project, a member of the ABC Coalition coordinated by William “Bill” Ayers (see below) and a subsidiary of the Chicago-based Gamaliel Foundation founded on the principles of Saul Alinsky, a self-avowed Marxist. Alinsky literally wrote the book on how to subvert democracies into Marxist dictatorships called "Rules for Radicals" (1971) which begins with a tribute "to Lucifer: The first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom" and professes "Ethical standards must be elastic to stretch with the times." Obama was involved with two other Alinsky-oriented entities, Acorn and Project Vote. On the board of Gamaliel sat Northwestern University professor John L. McKnight, a student of Alinsky's radical tactics. McKnight became Obama's mentor in community organizing, which is a basic Alinsky subversion tactic. (Acorn is being investigated in 14 states for turning in thousands of fraudulent registrations which could enable citizens to vote multiple times and allow ineligible voters to become registered. As a requirement for receiving federal funds, Acorn is supposed to be non-partisan organization. However, on Feb. 23, 2008 they endorsed Obama.)

• Obama adapted and implemented Alinsky’s tactics so well that on April 31, 2008, L. David Alinsky, Saul Alinsky's son, wrote a letter to the editor for the Boston Globe: "Obama learned his lesson well. I am proud to see that my father's model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.”

• Being tutored by McKnight and other Alinsky disciples, Obama said, was "the best education I ever had, better than anything I got at Harvard Law School." Shortly before Obama entered Harvard, he praised McKnight and his organizing principles in an article titled "After Alinsky: Community Organizing in Illinois."

• William “Bill” Ayres is a self-proclaimed unrepentant terrorist who was a member of the radical Weathermen organization in the 60's and 70's. They bombed the New York City police headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and The Pentagon in 1972 and proclaimed on September 11th that he “wished they had done more.” Obama’s association with him began in 1985 with the Developing Communities Project (see above) and continued with their work on the Chicago Annenburg Challenge from 1995 – 1999. Obama launched his political career at Ayers house in 1995 and they served on the Board of the Woods Foundation together from 1999 – 2002 (see below for details on all). Yet on Obama’s Fight the Smears website he says “the smear associating Barack to Ayers is phony, tenuous, – even exaggerated at best if not outright false.”

• At Harvard (1988-1991), Obama took advanced training courses at the Industrial Areas Foundation. The IAF was run by Saul Alinsky until his death in June of 1972 and continues to teach his principles of subversion.

• Obama took a job in 1993 with a small Chicago law firm, Davis Miner Barnhill. In 1994 Obama and other lawyers from the firm sued Citibank for not approving enough sub-prime loans (Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank Fair Housing/Lending/Insurance - Docket / Court 94 C 4094).

• In 1995, Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar balked at implementing the federal motor voter law out of concern that letting people register via postcard and blocking the state from pruning voter rolls might invite voter fraud. Obama sued Edgar on behalf of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn) and won [ACORN v. Edgar, No. 95 C 174]. Chicago Acorn leader Madeline Talbott later invited Obama to train her staff in "direct action" tactics used to intimidate banks to get them to approve more sub-prime loans.

• In a speech to ACORN in November 2007, Obama stated “I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran the Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it.” Yet today on his Fight the Smears website he states that people “making accusations about Barack and [his association with] ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.”

• From 1995 to 1999 Obama was the first chairman of Bill Ayers’s Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Mr. Ayers's educational philosophy called for infusing students and their parents with a radical political commitment and downplayed achievement tests in favor of activism. The group poured more than $100 million into the hands of community organizers and radical education activists such as ACORN, yet no evidence of educational improvement was ever found. Proposals for grants to groups focused on math/science achievement were turned down.

• In 1995 at the home of William Ayers, Alice Palmer announced she was stepping down from the Illinois Senate and naming Obama as her successor (a story in and of itself, the Tribune noted, "The man now running for president on a message of giving a voice to the voiceless first entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it.")

• In 1996 he sought and received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat after being a meeting-participating member. The DSA's stated goal: to establish "an openly socialist presence in American communities and politics" and is committed to "restructuring society."

• From 1999 – 2002 Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund for Chicago with Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers (see above). The Woods Fund frequently gave Acorn grants to fund its agenda and voter registration activities.

• In a February 2001 interview on Chicago Public Radio Obama says “If you look at . . . the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court, . . . the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth . . . and economic justice in this society. . . the Warren court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution”

• In 2003, Obama announced he was running for the U.S. Senate, and Tony Rezko -- a member of his campaign finance committee -- held a lavish fund-raiser June 27, 2003, at his Wilmette mansion. Rezko was convicted of corruption charges in 2008 for trading on his clout as a top adviser and fundraiser to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Rezko was found guilty on 16 of 24 counts including scheming to extort millions of dollars from firms seeking state business or regulatory approval.

• 2006 Obama campaigns for openly socialist Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

• While delivering the keynote address at the Call to Renewal conference on June 28, 2006 in Washington, he condemned “the idolatry of the free market" and asked “which passages of scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus which suggests that slavery’s ok? Or we could go with Deuteronomy which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick with the Sermon on the Mount – a passage that is so radical that it is doubtful that our own defense department would survive its application? • In 2007 the National Journal reported that Obama had established himself as “the most liberal Senator” based on his voting record – even more liberal than openly socialist Bernie Sanders.

• February 2008 Obama authored the "The Global Poverty Act," (S.2433) which commits the U.S. to spending hundreds of billions of dollars more in foreign aid on the rest of the world, in order to comply with the "Millennium Goals" established by the United Nations.

• The Obama campaign donated $800,000 to ACORN in February 2008 which the Obama campaign “misrepresented” in their Federal Election Commission reports.

• "Neighborliness" "Patriotic" "Fair" and "Economic Justice" are some terms Obama uses to justify taking money from the "wealthy" (for which the threshold is being lowered daily; it started at $250,000 and is now $150,000) and giving it to those that don't pay taxes via the Earned Income Tax Credit rule which is redistribution of wealth, a socialist tenant.

• Oct. 2008, The Washington Post reports, “Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity, campaign officials confirmed. The campaign has also chosen not to use basic security measures to prevent potentially illegal or anonymous contributions from flowing into its accounts, aides acknowledged.”

I put this together because I was talking to friends and family who couldn't believe the stuff I was telling them. It's my attempt at giving them enough information so that if they want to learn more about it they can google the names, dates and case numbers. I must say even I was surprised at the consistency with which Obama sought out and promoted radical socialist/marxist organizations and causes.

Although some info is old news I thought it was quite an indictment to see it in chronological order. I know there is more out there but this is what I could find in my "spare time" (ha ha) over the course of a about a week. If anyone has any corrections, additions, etc., I'll add them to my info sheet that I'm giving out to anyone that will listen :)

Thanks - I wish McCain had spent the Ayers advertising dollars on this bigger issue (Obama’s socialist agenda). I think it would have made more of an impact than focusing on one person. I just hope enough people wake up in these last few hours to swing the vote away from Obama.

That is such an excellent interview. I’m going to try to transcribe the main points. Very scary stuff. I want to read Alinsky’s stuff just to know what the agenda is and what we can expect if O becomes president. I’ll bet it aligns pretty closely to what Bezmenov says in this video.
