Missu Noumenon, who jsut started working for a very large national outdoor outfitter reports that not only are gun sales up, but that because the place in question will only sell three guns per day to an individual, they’re seeing the same people come back on a weekly basis for more. In some cases, it’s been every other day.

Looks like some folks are converting their dollars to something that will have perhaps more lasting value.

At $85 each, I suggest buying as many of these as you can.

If we get the same AWB as before (with or without a sunset) then these will be worth 5x the price overnight. of course, the new law may require that you build this up into a rifle before the effective date, so prepare to start a long night of assembling each one, documenting it, and stripping it to build each subsequent one.

There are lots of companies that make there. here’s one:

Was listening to a Chicago radio station while running errands today. They were talking to fire & police reps about Zero's election nite party at Grant Park.

Radio guy asks them, "do you expect it to be bad or good" they all said BAD!!!

They said what they are hearing is: If O wins, the crowds will only burn cars, if he loses they will burn buildings!

actually got the 9mm
the reason is that I used in it the military and was used to it plus the recoil is not as much so when after a shot I find I can get the next round off on target quicker rather than using an extra second to place the next round.

The P229 is nice to conceal as well I found

I think that only you can answer that.

Questions which you should ask yourself is
what do you need it for, ?
do you need to conceal it and carry it?
how much stopping power do you need?
are you big handed or small handed?
my wife is weak so cocking some guns is quite hard for her so for her a revolver is better.

I would recommend that you go to a gun shop and every gun shop I have been around the country has been helpful, they make you feel at ease and will do what they can for you plus let you pick a bunch up and feel them.

The place I go has a range so they let you fire the handguns you like and that way you get a feel for it.
If you like one they give you 10% off it.

Believe me they are totally different form one to another, in accuracy, weight, firing etc

I got a friends Sigma and compared it to mine SIGP229 and the difference was huge

best of luck

I spoke to a guy who works at a gun shop here in St Augustine and he said the biggest sales are for handguns and I know of no one who uses handguns for hunting.

next he said was shotguns, for which I am getting my wife tomorrow.

Anyone breaks in and tries to hurt her or the kids will be facing that as here in florida we have the castle law and I think only TX has that law too

I love Fl

Private property and the right to defend it: like the right of each innocent prenatal baby to live, these are all things Obama opposes.

Jeremiah Wright said "Damn America!" and Barack Obama took that as marching orders.

I told my lady a couple of days ago, that if Zero wins, I’m going to get a handgun. She’s a bit nervous about that (been a resident of NJ/NY all her life) but I used to own one out West. She didn’t really object, especially when I asked her how long she thought it would take the cops to reach our front door if she called 911.

For a first 'home defense' firearm, look at the Mossberg 500 series 12 gauge shotguns.

For a first 'home defense' handgun, find a good (have it checked by a competent gunsmith) used .357 revolver.

If you're in 'rifle country', look at the Savage Model 110 in .308 or .30-06.

Do you want a weapon just for home defense or are you going to get a carry permit? The simplest choice for home would be a 12-ga or 20-ga pump shotgun with pistol grip, 18.5” barrel, and an extended magazine. You can find Mossberg 500 models equipped thusly in the $200 range, and Remington 870s for a little bit more. Load them with 2 3/4” 00 buckshot shells.

If you want to carry, you obviously need a handgun. Go to a range and rent a variety of different models, and see what fits you best. I would recommend not looking at anything chambered smaller than 9mm for a semiauto or .38 special for a revolver. I’m personally partial to the Springfield XD line of semiauto handguns, but Glock and S&W also make very nice modern pistols; all would be in the $500 range new. Once you find a model you like shooting, have the store where you buy it show you how to use, disassemble, and clean it. Also take whatever beginner’s handgun class they offer (and/or their carry permit class, if your state requires such training).

There are as many opinions on ammo as there are types of ammo. Many people say you should have at least 1000 rounds on hand for each firearm you own, or at least for each caliber. I’m fairly close to that level myself and will be buying more this weekend. Whatever ammo you choose for self-defense, you’ll want to fire several boxes of it through your gun to make sure it will feed and fire 100% reliably. This can get costly with some of the specialized ammo that can cost over $1/round, which is why I buy my ammo from a local producer that makes essentially the same rounds at much lower costs. I can PM you a recommendation if you’d like.

Good luck with your search, and keep asking questions and doing research on your own. You’ll start to pick up which places are good sources of info and which, well, aren’t.

so if the lower has to go through an FFL holder, there’s paperwork. they’ll ban it, then use it to track you down.

if you sold it, then they’ll throw you in jail for being an “unlicensed dealer”. if you keep it to build one, well, you fill in the blank.

What I fear is that 0 will withhold federal money from states that do not abolish their CCW permits, thus forcing them to do so. Much like the way the feds withheld road money from states that did not lower their drunk driving limit to .08%.

if they don’t take the guns, they’ll take the ammo...

If they try to take the ammo, I predict they'll receive the ammo.

Interesting choice. I have 2 outta 3.
Currently have a Mossberg 20ga pump w/ 3” 00 magnum shells standing by for home defense and a 1903 Springfield 30-06 for the “rifle country” use.
Don’t have any handguns. Wife doesn’t like them and controls budget.
