Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said today that John McCain can't become president without carrying Pennsylvania and that the race would be different if McCain had chosen him as his running mate. Yeah, we'd be something like 40 pts. down...

Ridge is a good conservative, got elected in a dem state, but the only mark against him was he supported Specter not Toomey for senate.

Yeah, the race would be different. McCain/Ridge might have done better in PA.
But, without Sarah Palin the base would stay home or vote 3rd party and McCain would lose FL, NC, OH & MO to start. Ridge wasn’t even the 2nd best choice. That would be Romney.
