If you remember in 2004 there was an agitator group going around calling itself "Billionaires for Bush". The irony was, when you looked all at the election uber-doners, they were the real billionaires, and the top 10 were all donating to Kerry. I think the CEO of Progressive Insurance was at the top of the heap, as was the CEO of University of Phoenix.
Then there was that little 11th hour billionaires strategery meeting right before the election with (I think) the NYT.
No surprise that the same holds true for this election.

Because the super rich have their offshore tax havens, accountants, and other ways they don’t pay tax. One of the richest liberal democrats in Congress, John Kerry, pays an effective income tax rate of 12%.
