Buck up soldiers, inside info(Vanity)

Posted on 10/08/2008 12:15:26 PM PDT by pburgh01

I was eating lunch today with the wife on her birthday. The table next to us was a gentleman and a young lady, well dressed, curiously looking at papers spread out over the table. The fellow had a briefcase with a huge McCain\Palin Victory sticker. Wife and I whispered about who they can be. Wife turned around and just had to ask. Well this was a Republican party of Pennsylvania honcho in charge of the Victory campaign for the good guys. We got into an interesting discussion about the debates, polling, etc. This what I heard…. It was very encouraging, the numbers that the campaign has been seeing. Not Zogby, Rassmussen, etc. He said real political analysts think those polls are for mass media consumption and not very accurate. This is straight from the horses mouth folks…McCain campaign is showing nationwide between +2-4 for McCain. I questioned the accuracy saying well all the polls I have seen, blah, blah. He interrupted me, “Like I said ignore those polls , about useless”. He said remember we had this talk , McCain will win Pa by at least 2 points. So buck up fellow soldiers.

You just made my day!

God bless you and all the good folks out there in PA. Keep on clinging to those guns and Bibles!

Perhaps Gallup is doing this for effect. Open up a huge Obama lead a month from election day and then bring it down to a tie a week out. These pollsters hold a lot of power over the emotions of the American people and they know it....and enjoy it.

“I’m playing devil’s advocate here, but I’ve seen the new registration numbers for many states, in particular PA, and it doesn’t look good”

Operation Chaos, my friend. Alot of people listening to Rush registered as Dems in PA to wreak havoc in the Hillary-Obama primary showdown in PA.

“but we’re told by the media and the pundits that the Obama campaign is different.”

Of course they are telling you that! They are in the tank for The One. In reality though, that early voting nonsense in OH netted less than 5,000 votes. Now so hot. Plus you have to wonder how many will be thrown out. Bush won OH by +120,000 votes. I’m not impressed.

I refuse to believe that Operation Chaos accounted for that many registration changes. We’re talking hundreds of thousands of switchers. I don’t think Rush, even with all his listeners, has that kind of influence.

The problem with riots is it may encourage faithless electors.

If the dems keep up pressure until the electors meet, we could find ourselves in a Kenya situation.

No...that’s not what I’m saying...

Didn’t New Jersey pass a law saying that their electoral votes would go the same as the popular vote?

oh...nvm...it only goes into effect if states representing 50% of the EV pass the bill...nvm

Bush lost PA by 2.5 points last time, and he won nationally by over three million votes.

True, but I think almost half that amount came from Texas.

BTW, impeached, I'm trying to become more positive than when we last chatted. :) But it ain't easy, man...when even FOX NEWS has the race going to Hussein at the top of their web page....pretty discouraging.

Bush won TX by about 1.7M votes. Kerry won Cali by about 1.2M votes. Kerry won NY by over 1.3M votes. And D.C. provides a free 200K votes for virtually any Democrat.

Same reason in 2000 Bush spent so much time in FL because internals showed the race too close to call while pollsters had it a win for Bush.

"he missed it on 06 (basically because our base didn't turn out! not because there was a huge shift to the DEMs). I would trust Rove's numbers over the MSM any day of the week - "

I'm with Dev Six on this one. Sadly, control of the House and Senate turned on 80,000 votes out of over 30 million cast in '06. And it was because of the base. I too lay blame on the likes of Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity who b*tched and moaned about the GOP for months on end almost until voting time. Along with the MSM "culture of corruption/macaca/Foley the homo" meme, it was no wonder so many GOP voters said "why bother".

That said, Sarah (along with the fear of Obama and his ilk) has reawakened the base. Methinks the pundits are in for a surprise as no poll model I am aware of is taking into account the energized base--to the contrary, weighting based to favor the 'rats on a huge black and young voter turnout. There may be some down ticket surprises come 11/4. Time will tell...

See #112 as to my take on ‘06 and the difference this year, FWIW.

Isn’t oversampling dems now a racist thing because they have to add “affirmative action” to the polls to get a “accurate” number ? Just asking ............

Let’em try. I’ve got a concealed carry and a castle law in my state. People will stop rioting real fast once they reach my house. I just hope my wife can handle my Taurus while I shoulder my SKS. I’ll have to put together a few stripper clips with tracers for night time.

They use lots of reasons for over sampling but none are valid.

Today there was a poll where the spread was ten points and O was only up by five.

Your heart is in the right place.

I sure do hope that nothing happens if McCain wins.

MD is not the place to defend yourself against anyone unless the issues are really in the criminals favor.
