For some weird, unknown reason in the middle of the night I was awakened with a vivid flashback dream.
The dream was a recollection of all the time we early Freepers spent on the Prodigy Whitewater Bulletin Board, discussing Clinton and his unfolding horrible presidency.
Somebody told us about a book written by Terry Reed, a Viet Nam vet and how he and a cast of now famous names wound up all twisted in the Arkansas of then Gov. Bill Clinton.
The long and detailed book opened up many of our eyes about where Clinton and G. H. W. Bush had been and why we were where we were in the mid '90's.

For many of us, having been around in those early days and migrated to what FR is today, this book started much of our distrust of Clinton and some aspects of our government today.
Today, FR has been around for over ten years. I've been a proud Freeper for over ten years. Many 'noobs' may not be aware of this book and might gain some more insight as to, what I believe created some of the roots of FR by reading it. I'm sure it's in the libraries across America.
We are now in another Freepathon to keep our beloved FreeRepublic.com on the net for another quarter.
Today, over $6,000 was donated in just one day and I hope all of us donate quickly and throw a little into the kitty for more servers etc.

My life’s biggest regret was not signing on in 98 or 99 when I started lurking on the White Water threads. I was led here by Drudge when he still linked to FR.
I’m sure I will be doing my donation but the fact that FR has had the slows for some time bothers me. If it is a DNS I can deal with it but Jim should come forward and post a permanent header telling us so we can direct our frustration to Soros and his minions ...

Slowness out here in midwest seems to have improved muchly in the past few days since the new servers went in.
It still does seem to take a little long on some BROWSE refreshes, but I also suspect traffic is way up on FR this past week too...

I wish I were around FR in 98-99 too! I only found FR 3 1/2 years ago, and I’m damn glad I did!
I’ve voted for 6 Presidents and I have no problem calling Bubba the worst of those. I was too young to remember the peanut farmer, so I don’t go there
I have said before if we had Reagan clones running the country since 1988, 9/11 doesn’t happen, taxes would be half of what it is now, businesses would be alive and kicking here, not in China, welfare would be a distant memory, the borders would be keeping illegals out, government would not be as big as it is today which means that everything we buy today costs about a third less than what it does now.
But Bill Clinton SCREWED everything up, and we’re still paying for it!
