Biden accused of distorting war stories in Iraq and Afghanistan to make them more dramatic

Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden today faced accusations of embellishing his account of a visit to Iraq when he claimed to have come under enemy fire.

He is also said to have talked up a forced landing in a helicopter while visiting Afghanistan to make it more dramatic.

With Mr Biden less than 24 hours away from his crucial televised debate with his opposite number, Sarah Palin, his honesty was being question by Republican party chiefs.

There are fears within the Democratic party that the "war stories" damage Barack Obama if given a wider airing.

Maybe Biden is confused and he came under enemy fire in Vietnam...oh wait, that’s right...he had asthma back then. Glad to see that asthma cleared up right after that...(rolling eyes)

People running for office tend to “embellish” their record. Our local Radio host Martha Clinton Zoller has been campaigning for office for six years. She took a week long trip to Iraq with Melanie Morgan in 2005 where she spent 4 days in the Green Zone. She's now claiming that she spent “10 days in a tent in the combat zone.” It must be a contagious disease

Talking in a YouTube sponsored debate last year, he said he had been inside the "green zone" seven times and "shot at".

What a load of cr@p. Nobody gets "shot at" in the Green Zone. That happens outside the Green Zone. Been there, done that in 2005.

When questioned about coming under fire Mr Biden later admitted he was near where a shot landed.

Yeah, it was probably when Iraq won the Asia Cup last year and celebratory bullets were raining all over Baghdad. Everybody, even on bases other than the Green Zone was "near where a shot landed." And those of us with brains were indoors during all of that.

Clark Gable once made a great movie called Command Decision. In this movie an incredible, windbag, blow hard politician went to a WWII Air Corps base to present his nephew some medal for bravery, or some such. The nephew was actually less than brave.

To make a long story short, during the presentation, the nephew realized how twisted it all was. He slammed the medal case shut prior to the presentation, practically screamed at his uncle, "Don't you know there are some men who have to do more than just talk?" Then he walked away.

Whenever some semi-vir like Biden talks up these kinds of incidents, it's so sickening mostly because he does NOT know there heavy lifters in the world who have to do more than just talk.
