Agreed. And how did we get here. We spent too much money on too many programs where government tried to run everything and fix everything. As you said, the data is all around us. Rather than sitting back and waiting to be taken care of, it is time to firmly grab our collective boot straps and get back to building something in this country again. We need to renew our collective work ethic which has been in a steady decline since the ‘60s.

I hope we can do so without too much pain all around. I mean, I hope the coming financial recession or mild depression is not too painful. Then again, if it is deep and painful, we might have a better chance to do just as you say. Nothing left to lose. President Osama will try to play FDR and get his statue erected on the DC Mall, and we are going to have to fight him and the rest of the communists tooth and nail. In the meantime, we have nurtured a massive entitlement class that is likely to jump through all his hoops and endow him with virtual dictatorship for a few more free handouts.
