It was reported the next day by FoxNews’s Brit Hume that Palin’s (and Giuliani’s) teleprompter had malfunctioned. Hume’s panel was impressed with how smoothly she dealt with it. Apparently, the “they wont say Islamic Terrorist” part of Giuliani’s speech was ad-hoc, and after his teleprompter got messed up.
Yes, I saw that reporting about Palin’s teleprompter at the time, but then the stories came out that it wasn’t true, that the guy running the prompter just got a little ahead a few times. If she did the whole thing without the prompter, that would have been the time to say so, put an end to the competing stories and say what actually happened. To this day, we don’t know what happened, we just have 2 or 3 different versions of what might have happened, including the version in this article.
