I agree with Cold Heat. Here is some of Teddy Roosevelt’s Progressive Party platform:
The platform called for women’s suffrage, recall of judicial decisions, easier amendment of the U.S. Constitution, social welfare legislation for women and children, workers’ compensation, limited injunctions in strikes, farm relief, revision of banking to assure an elastic currency, required health insurance in industry, new inheritance taxes and income taxes, improvement of inland waterways, and limitation of naval armaments.
The sad thing is, that we are trading our Repub/conservative politics in for a populist ticket, largely because the electorate has bought into the populist visions of the perfect government. Rather than trim it down and rely more on the individual, big brother has become dominant and is alive and kicking this silly season.
It is what it is....and the alternative is almost too much for me to contemplate.
I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that I really don't have the luxury of choice this time.
