I totally agree with you. I think the comment was meant for Palin and was painfully staged. It was what it was, but if you listen to the entire speech, he was carefully alluding to McCain’s policies. The Republicans need to chose their battles wisely and this is not one of them.
I see your point, and it is a good one. The idea now, though, is to keep Obama reeling and off message. This one point may be minor but it is above the belt and directed at sealing the deal with those disaffected Hillary! voters.
