Thanks for the info. Are they trying to develop the coal - or is it just too far and too costly to get it down to the users in the Lower 48?

A liberal friend (yes- friend!) made the comment on how Alaskan’s got a pretty good oil divident/royalty check this year, plus a check to cover the increased cost of fuel. Then made the comment “Alaska is the Saudi of the North” (not in a mean way - he loves Alaska and kicks himself for leaving!) ANYWAY - I wonder how much of this attitude is real, and could it be sold to mainstream Midwest America to vote against Palin?

However - didn’t she just raise the taxes on the oil companies a bit? I recall that the negotiated tax rate from years ago may have been tainted (bribes or something?).

Coal currently is shipped via rail to Seward them to Korea for their rather powerful industrial engine. We Don't use large amounts her yet but that may change as there is talk of coal powered power plants. And before any closet “Green Fashisti” out there have a fit, it will be a clean coal project, if it gets built.
