ABC News' Jennifer Parker reports: Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former Sen. John Edwards has reacted to the news of her husband's affair, posting a blog titled "Today" on the liberal Daily Kos website and asking for privacy for her family.
In the blog, Elizabeth Edwards says her husband told her about the affair in 2006 and they worked through it. "This was our private matter," she writes.
She heaps blame on the news media for prying into her family's life, writing, "the toll on our family of news helicopters over our house and reporters in our driveway is yet unknown."
She disputes the National Enquirer allegations that her husband fathered a child outside of their marriage.
The Elizabeth Edwards blog on Daily Kos reads: "Our family has been through a lot. Some caused by nature, some caused by human weakness, and some most recently caused by the desire for sensationalism and profit without any regard for the human consequences. None of these has been easy. But we have stood with one another through them all. Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him.
"John made a terrible mistake in 2006. The fact that it is a mistake that many others have made before him did not make it any easier for me to hear when he told me what he had done. But he did tell me. And we began a long and painful process in 2006, a process oddly made somewhat easier with my diagnosis in March of 2007.

Yep. John Edwards always hides behind his sick wife and uses her as an attack dog.
Waiting for the DNA test results.
Yeah, he said he ended the affair in 2006. We can trust him on that. He would never lie to us.
“But the Senator, while insisting he was not intoxicated, could not explain his nudity.” Elizabeth, there’s still the 2 AM hotel visit.
the last post on this was pulled ...dont know why
I was wondering why it was pulled. We’ll see how long this one lasts.
Maybe they were just swaping hair care tips
It’s ‘sensationalism’s’ fault, not a democrat’s (Edwards)?
Poor logic, there.
Sorry Lix, this is the course your asshat husband has taken.
When confronted with the truth he consistently responded with ass covering lies. If the National Enquirer had not done the job the MSM should be doing he would have been VP or Attorney General in a Bronco Bomber administration (just typing that made me throw up in my moutn).
Get over it... he betrayed you.
He's not fit to be a husband and father much less someone charting the direction of this country.
Sure, it ended in 2006. That’s why he had numerous hitch-ups with Rielle, the most recent in Beverly Hills at 10pm-2:30am.
What is the MSM not covering here?
the admin mod said there was no link.
What a tough little stud-muffin that Johnny is.
just damn ...
She won’t be speaking at the convention according to the spokeswoman, Jennifer Palmieri, on Larry King Alive with Wolf hosting.
I seem to be reminded of another serial philanderer and an enabler .
Maybe Jim should know we have a Mod who favors Edwards? /sarc
Briefly saw that post. Don't know if it was the same source or the reason for pulling it.
Well let’s see the results of a rigorously conducted paternity test......
Let’s see if all the assertions pouring forth now from John and Elizabeth Edwards can be substantiated, such as claims that the affair ended in 2006, that the baby is not his, etc.
Why was he visiting his (former??) mistress surreptitiously late at night in a Beverly Hills hotel just a couple of weeks ago?? Is the photo of a man holding the baby really him? Looks like him...... Surely people do not make secret late-night visits to a former mistress in a hotel room just to play with someone else’s illegitimate baby....
How has this mistress been paid and supported from the time they met onward, what are the sources of funds, luxury homes in gated communities, etc.?
Since this may well involve campaign dollars, possible tax fraud, etc. there is plenty to be investigated and exposed before we allow them to say “old news, move on”
