JERUSALEM (AFP) - An Israeli minister on Saturday accused the international community of failing to halt Iran's nuclear drive and the West of being "resigned" to Tehran's development of nuclear weapons.

"My feeling is that the enlightened Western world -- and I don't know if it still is -- is resigned to the development of a nuclear bomb in Iran," Infrastructure Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer told Israeli public radio.

"Hundreds of European and American firms, and I'm not even talking about the Chinese and North Koreans, are doing business with Iran day and night," Ben-Eliezer said.

Yes, the statement is true. Now, Israelis, are you? Because if you are, your never again boast and whole reason for founding Israel and fighting for it over the years, is about to crumble to ashes. So get off your backsides, stop waiting for the goyim to come save you, and go blow them to atoms.

I am confident that he is right. Sad but obvious: Ahmadinejad has beaten George Bush. Iran has outlasted the United States, despite Bush's vain pronouncements about a "charge for our generation" (or whatever).

And the rest of the West went home early.

So this is two statements from Israeli ministers. Sounds like they are keeping their powder dry in case Obi gets elected. No meekly going to the gas chambers this time.

The West, no more like Israel. Ah, but that is ‘west’ if Iran. Geez, no others are getting us in trouble. :)

Yup, definitely Bush's fault. Congress has been tremendously supportive in Bush's war on Islamonuts. And the support for same from the MSM and the wonderful people of these United States has been unparalleled in our history.

That damn Bush.

At this point, Israel should take care of it, and America should not interfere, aside from impeding the UN.

This is just like how the West ignored the rise of Nazi Germany. Everyone dismissed the fascists as crazy politicians. No one really believed all that talk about wiping out the Jews.

If Iran gets nukes, imagine what they would do to Israel?

I think there’s a bill in Congress that will ratchet up the pressure on Iran. One of Iran’s vulnerabilities is the fact it must import 50% of it’s gasoline. Shutting that down is going to make it much tougher for Iran’s current leaders to pacify the population. Besides, by diverting that gasoline from Iran it might help prices somewhere else.

Israel needs to issue an ultimatum, not directly at Iran, but indirectly, through other nations. Since Israel does not admit to having nuclear weapons, appropriate euphemisms will be used to explain their potential for use.

It must be a complex ultimatum, based on several possible scenarios.

1) Only the first ultimatum must be that Iran must both stop enriching uranium and permit full international inspection of its nuclear facilities, or Israel will at its discretion attack and destroy those parts of the Iranian infrastructure that it deems a threat.

2) Any missile launched by Iran at Israel, OR by its proxies Syria or Hezbollah, that is large enough to carry a weapon of mass destruction, will result in NUCLEAR retaliation at Israel’s discretion, against targets in any or all of those three countries.

3) Israel will not feel bound to attack only military targets, but will likewise feel free to attack civilian targets.

4) If a nuclear weapon is fired at Israel, and intercepted or not, Israel will not limit its counterattack to just the individual aggressor Muslim nation, but will feel free to attack any or all Muslim nations that have threatened Israel in past or supported those who did. At this stage, this may involve the annihilation of most Islamic states.

5) Any other foreign power that intercedes or supports Islamic aggression towards Israel may also be attacked in such a way to prevent such support. This especially includes those nations that sell either offensive or defensive weaponry to the aggressor nations.

Sounds like a great way to get the Russians to launch a preemptive nuclear strike from a Russian boomer cruising off the shores of Israel.

He stressed such an operation could only be conducted with US support

With Obama, you can be sure that Israel will not get the support it needs. Perhaps the rest of this year will "interesting".

I would have loved to seen the faces of those Obama spoke to last week. First he calls Iran “The greatest danger to Israel”, and in virtually the same breath states that Iran must be dealt with “Using aggressive diplomacy.” Hmm - aggressive diplomacy wit the guy who regularly calls for Israel to be “Wiped off the map”, a “Stinking corpse”, etc. Yeah Barry, I bet you won alot of votes with THAT statement!!

I wouldn't call Bush's pronouncements “vain”. They were more likely precatory. He doubtless knew that weaker men would follow him into office.
