To keep coyotes out, you’d have to have SOME kind of fenced yard. I’ve read that coyotes, which plan and scheme and strategize for weeks, can breach fences that most humans would assume were completely coyote proof. The fences on the ranches where women kept their toddlers “safe” while carrying on their busy workdays were high enough to keep the kids in and did the trick because predators like coyotes and big cats, which could easily navigate a four-foot picket fence, were SHOT AT ON SIGHT always and kept their distance well from the main house during the day. Fences sound nice ... but won’t do the trick unless you make them eight feet tall. SHOOTING TO KILL the predatory animals will do the trick.

True and I'm speaking from the city and not the country anymore. You expect wild animals if you live near their habitat and take additional precautions. This has probably never been a problem for this neighborhood before and they are going to have to adjust. I agree. Shoot the coyotes. Hang them up on the property lines. Just make sure the gun isn't where kids can get to them. That would be another terrible tragedy.
