Is their marketing strategy one of creating outrage to increase word buzz in blogs ?
To: kellynla
I suppose that “8-inch ruler” ad could be interpreted in many ways ... but I get the impression they intend something crude.

Perhaps they are exploring a new niche market for their product - promoting it as a disinfectant after having gay sex....

'what if everything in the world were approached with the same ideals that Absolut approaches vodka?'"We'd all be going where Absolut sales should go...straight to hell.

These fools are determined to make sure that I won’t buy any of their products. First the Mexican map now supporting queers. You’d think they were in competition with McDonalds.

Is anyone really surprised about this? After all, my guess is that you need to imbibe a lot of vodka before doing what the pillow-biters normally do...

Is their marketing strategy one of creating outrage to increase word buzz in blogs ?Don't know about blogs but, being garbage collection day where I live, it prompted me to check if there was any "absoloot" in my liquor cabinet. There wasn't.
End of interest in the story...

Their marketing firm should be fired. This is the second horrible mistake in one week.
Their objective is to create buzz about their mainstay product, not to insult their largest market base, apologize and immediately turn-off the largest demographic in that base.
I have a feeling that account will be shifting soon.

Someone mentioned on another thread that Stoli is also owned by Absolut.
Can anyone confirm that?
.
So...alienating 50% of your market to gain maybe a couple percent makes sense...how?

Surprised they didn't redesign the bottle neck to go along with this campaign.
How about this for a response:
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
