Anyone who has has web sites for a decade or more can discuss the "merits" of Network Solutions.

I won't. There is just nothing bad enough to say about them without shouting and swearing. Just leave it that I am not surprised in the least. They love non-negotiable fiats.

I regret that I don’t know who that is or I would do it myself and not bother you :-)

My reason for doing this is that according to their website, Network Solutions is based in Herndon, Virginia, and considering the nature of what this company is doing, I’m wondering if the FR Virginia Chapter might be interested in pursuing some sort of public FReep in this matter.

Network Solutions is a nasty company, IMO. I had an opportunity to get in on the IPO, but declined for moral reasons (knowing how they operate). Now I wish I'd participated, dumped the pumped-up shares, and used the proceeds to point out their bad practices. Whether this is just spinelessness or something else, I don't know.
