My stringbass, not in the $1 million range, has had a few repairs and sounds better all the time. My set of 18” C-clamps is fairly substantial now.

I have a friend who works on symphony string instruments, he could probably tell with one look if it's fixable.(If the top or back were splintered, I wouldn't be very hopeful. Kindling.)

He fixed the broken neck on my stand-up bass and did a fantastic job (it was broken at the dovetail joint).
