Ideas & Agenda for the GOP Party Today
All four remaining GOP presidential candidates attend the 2008 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Sen. John McCain (AZ), Rep. Ron Paul (TX), and Fmr. Gov. Mitt Romney (MA) address and seek conservative support at nation's largest annual gathering. Fmr. Gov. Mike Huckabee (AR) speaks at CPAC on Saturday
Id rather lose an election then lose the war in Iraq
Actually you did get me. He did say that but I must say I forgot him saying that. You know if McCain gives a great speech today, I will support him, but it is really because of Romney’s words about the war that sealed it for me. I know some people think Romney is full of crap but I see him as a good man who really does care about America. I guess I can say that McCain does too, but I do think he cares about himself a bit more than America...just a bit. lol.
I agree
Who’s the Forehead? I don’t watch CNN.
Hannity endorsed Romney... He said it many times on his show.. I sent him emails many times and said to him stop Ripping McCain down... Convince me why I should vote for Romney...
Sorry he just couldn’t Romney never passed the smell test..
Not Conservative enough...
Romney has never publically come out and said that he was wrong for the first 60 years of his life on abortion..
He just starting saying that he was pro-life after running twice on a heavily pro-abortion ticket
He even tried to out Teddy, Teddy Kennedy over abortion and gay rights
That’s all I meant...
The pro-lifers in these threads have been beaten up for weeks over Romney
grannted we gave back as good as we got..
But the truth remains
RINO Romney was portrayed as a life long conservative...
Which he was not...
During the first debate I saw and heard Romney for the first time
I didnt know some of the others either so I did get them mixed up at first...
But Romney I never forgot...
He was asked about abortion..as a pro-lifer I took notice
he told the story of a relative dying from an abortion and my heart went out to him
He seemed to be visibly hurt still by the memory and I expected him to say that he had fought diligently against abortion ever since..
If he had said that ...he would have been a hero to me...
however he did not say that...what he did say made no sense if the words came from a “conservative”
He said that since the girl had died from an ILLEGAL abortion, he had fought for LEGAL abortions ever since
Hardly the stance of a conservative..
I was fighting against abortion durinmg the 1970’s before it was cool for a Christian or a conservative to do so
It was called a “Catholic issue” and the Southern Baptists wouldnt touch it
I'm betting ever since you've been committed.
I'm with you girlfriend. The constant trolling has become absolutely stomach-churning.
“Since you now have McCain, Id say it failed.”
Actually, I believe that those who didn’t support a conservative candidate in the first place are responsible for where we are now. In other words, RINOS like you have brought us here. Thanks.
I think this poster below summed it up exactly right:
Personally, I still blame all the so-called conservatives who supported candidates other than Fred (and Duncan). We had a chance to unite behind a solid conservative who was good in every area. Instead, we had yahoos who jerked around and supported Mitt from the get-go, or supported Huck, or supported Rudy, etc. etc. etc. Really, the GOP has nobody to blame but itself for getting Ritalin John as its candidate. Its not the medias fault, its not the Dimocrats and Independent who voted in our primaries fault, its not Fox News fault - its the fault of GOP voters themselves, including a lot of FReepers.

Dang, why does this give me a wisp of hope because he hasn't definitely quit.
I must be a drowning conservative grasping at half a straw.
Just heard on the radio "Keep him in it so we can win it" so I guess I'm not the only cock-eyed optomist!
Leni
MR has said that he would not be a VP, recently and frequently.
LOL I think I feel exactly the same way about both Romney and McCain as you do... What bugged me most is the spin that the talking heads were doing beating up McCain not Promoting Romney...
The contest became an attack on McCain not a Romney endorsement... anyway I much rather attack Hillar and Obama then our own...
lol! Thanks. Serpenthead certainly fits Carville.
Some interesting strategery is going on here, better believe it.

The technical term may be suspend for campaign expense reasons, but Mitt has finished his race for 2008. Mitt did not endorse another candidate during his speech.
You forgot to add “tomnbeverly” to the list.:)
Oh how I wish Sen. George Allen would’ve been running for President... he was the perfect candidate, with the most amazing conservative credentials.
But, the word “Macaca” and the incessant liberal media coverage of the incident dashed his dreams, much to our nation’s loss.
I gave that bisexual poster a later special ping to 314.
*wink*
o:) I said something similar on another thread.
What no one is bringing up is Bloomberg from NY running as third party....I know next to nothing about politics, but Bloomberg adds another level to the mix.
“In other words, RINOS like you have brought us here.”
You’re welcome.
From a former Fred supporter. I guess the RINOs supported Fred then.
