Dear Madam,

I am very sorry that your parents did not fill your heart with the love and joy of Jesus Christ. Please remember, that no matter what, he stills loves you and accepts you and just asks for your heart to be open for Him.

You have entered a faith that I hope you study in depth and in detail. The Quran teaches that only Islam is the true religion, and unbelievers have three options: 1) convert to Islam; 2) remain an infidel, and submit to humiliating subordinate status under Islamic (Sharia) law, including paying a hefty poll tax; or 3) wage war with, or be killed by, Muslims.

Keep in mind that in Islam it is “good works” (good vs. bad deeds on the scale of life) that you DO that may get you into heaven. Somehow you must win Allah’s favor. If you fall just .0001% short on the scale, you will be cast down into Hell.

But the problem is you never know when you have done enough. It is like being a salesperson who must meet a quota but never being told what that quota is. You can never be sure you have actually done enough (except dying in Jihad fighting infidels – but I don’t know if that is for you though).

Worse yet, the Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that we can never do enough. We will always fall short of God’s holy and perfect standard.

But be thankful – for there is hope. Jesus has DONE something for us that we could have never done for ourselves. Christ lived the perfect life that we could never live and He willingly died on the Cross to pay the penalty we owed for the wrongs we have done.

To become a Christian (a follower of Christ) means to humbly receive God’s gift of forgiveness and commit to His following and His leadership. When we do that, He adopts us into his family and begins to change us from the inside out.

Also consider - If you ever want to leave Islam, it will be considered an act of apostasy, which carries the death sentence in much of the Islamic world.

Best Regards,

2banana

PS – I spent a year in Afghanistan; living, eating, sleeping, talking, praying, fighting and dying with Muslims.

It did not bode well that every mosque I visited practiced strict gender segregation. As a feminist with a minor in women’s studies, I have never found this sort of restriction necessary or beneficial.

I guess she never heard this joke before her conversion:

A Journalist had visited the area of Kuwait many years before the Gulf War and noticed that the woman walked at least 10 feet behind the men, and she thought that was not right, but said nothing. After the Gulf War she went back to the same area and notice that now the men walked 10 feet behind the women. she ran up to one of the women and said, "What a change you have brought about, how did you make the men change so that they walk behind you?" The woman replied, "Land mines."

Seriously, though, how did she not notice the restrictions on women in Islamic countries? The stricter the Islamic rule, the more they restrict women's activities. The two primary examples are Saudi Arabia where they are finally considering allowing women to drive. The second was Taliban ruled Afghanistan where the women had to be covered from head to toe, and their windows had to either face away from the street or be boarded over.

Earlier this year, I moved to Atlanta with my husband

I’m curious about her husband. Is he western or did she marry a mid-easterner?

In all of my studies, Islam was the one faith most compatible with so-called ‘Western’ thought.

But I thought that "western civilization" was a bad thing!

I was moved by Sufi poets and the beauty of a faith that allowed for pluralism. I enjoyed the sense of unity that came with performing rituals alongside other Muslims. I was thrilled to discover a belief system that was not at odds with scientific knowledge. The Islam I came to know allowed for diversity in interpretation and encouraged the pursuit of knowledge and critical thinking.

What is her argument here?

That there are no Christian poets?

That Christianity does not allow pluralism?

That Christians do not perform rites together in groups?

That Christianity is incompatible with scientific research?

That Christianity does not permit diversity in theological interpretation?

That Christianity discourages education?

That Christianity discourages critical thinking?

Her "reasoning" for her embrace of Islam is nonsensical and seems more an irrational rejection of Christianity than an informed conversion to something else.

Welcome to islam!!! Did you actually think that any muslim man would allow you your own thoughts or free will??? You got suckered and now according to the rules of islam you are there for life. You are no little more than breeding stock in the islam pasture. Men will be telling you for the rest of your life what to think, how to think, and what you will be doing.
You’ve gone from feminist to slave. Again, welcome to islam!!!!!

I had spent three years studying various religions and belief systems before taking this important step in my spiritual journey.

Journey over. No do-overs. Enjoy your new status.

Sorry, baby, you checked into the Hotel CALIPHornia. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

She traded the truth for a lie. She traded the light for the darkness. She traded the one and only son of God and the Messiah for a false prophet named Mohammed and his demonic book the Koran. Now she belongs to the devil. Very sad.

Thank you 2banana, your response is a keeper. I saved this posting to another file. I admire the clarity of your work. In March I’m attending the Mt. Hermon Writer’s Conference. Are you a published writer?

Sounds like she converted to college Islam, which is about as reflective of real Islam as college is of real life in general.

The imam, or religious leader, told the congregation that Islam is incompatible with ‘Western’ values, and the ‘West’ is a corruption.

Then it looks like Islam has got to go.
