South Florida voters took to the polls in force Tuesday, setting the stage for what may be a record turnout for a primary election and deciding a make-or-break race for Republican presidential hopefuls. Early reports showed few problems at polling precincts.

Not to belabor the point, but when the person charged with enforcing the law tells a person to do something CONTRARY to the law which is to his benefit (even though that person believes the enforcer is wrong), the best course is to take the money and run.

The law clearly states that the registration is closed 30 days in advance of the polls.

My wife is an election official.
I assure you that any non pre registered voters are not going to count.

The diebold won’t even tabulate them as far as I know.

“How hard can it be to run an election properly?!”
________________________

It’s difficult to run an election properly due to all the laws that apply. That’s why I spent the last ten years instructing Texas Republican election judges how to run an election. I received no money for that (just expenses for the materials), and I did it because Republicans need to hold fair elections and force Democrats to run theirs fairly.

It is my understanding that Independents are supposed to be given ballots without Party candidates.

Just a ballot on the proposed Amendment on Homestead & Property Tax and any other local issue.....but without the names of Presidential Candidates in GOP or Dem Party.

So far, I've had 69 postitive comments and Freepmails asking me to keep putting out McCain's vote to include felons, gang members and terrorists in on shamnesty and yours is only the second one to tell me I'm spamming.

So here is the list of the 51 senators again who don't want us to pick out the rotten apples:

You stand in the appropriate line, the poll worker checks your voter ID and photo ID, you sign the book, and then they activate the card (electronic voting) with the right issues (in other words my screen only showed Republican candidates, not Democratic candidates.)

You mean you actually have to show proof of identity and a photo to vote in Florida? How restrictive. Here in NM you just show up an tell them your name and they check your name against the list and give you a ballot. No photo, no ID and no check if you are a citizen. Much more progressive than Florida.

Yes, but when you read the article you will see that the guy is an independant who said he voted for John McCain.

This is ILLEGAL and was verified to me as being an illegal act by the woman who answered the voter fraud hot line.

The “take the money and run ethic” is a big part of the problem with the country today.

Some voters are complaining that Leon County poll workers have asked them to tell them which party they belong to before giving them their ballot. Poll workers are supposed to look up that information in the precinct’s voter register, to ensure that voters get the right ballot.

Belinda Lovelace, a Democrat, said poll workers at Faith Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall (Precinct 3501) asked her for her party affiliation. She said she was worried voters could lie and end up voting in the wrong primary.

“I think these people should be trained better,” she said. “They did not check anything.”

Election Supervisor Ion Sancho said the issue was one of new poll workers who were trained in a hurry over the Christmas break.

“In all our primary elections these kinds of issues come up,” he said.

He said voters should make sure they’re getting the right ballot.

“Voters also have to play a role in this,” he said. “Please help us and help us train the poll workers.”
