And it’s used far more than any terms used to accurately describe the DemoRats.

“They think he will be easier to beat than McCain.”

We conservatives are a little schizo also. Many want to take out Hillary, but the alternative of President Obama scares me more than President Mrs. Clinton. Although much scarier as a commander in chief, I think Obama would be easier to beat.

McCain has too many negatives - questions about his physical and mental health; his creepiness; CFR; his opposition to tax cuts; etc. His positions on amnesty and perks for illegal aliens, even gang members and terrorists, is scary and proves he is unwilling/unable to handle WOT. The character issues could become a major factor in a general election.

I agree the term RINO has been so overused that it has, like the term racist, become meaningless.

BTW, I keep hearing about he and his son not speaking to each other. What is behind it?

I don’t know why the left wasn’t de-funded... They run their 501(c) scams all day long...

That's a good point.

If there was mandatory drug testing for all paid employees of 501(c) Tax Exempt Corporations as a condition for “non-profit” status written into the Internal Revenue Code, the left wing front groups (like Greenpeace, Sierra Club, PETA, CAIR, ACLU, etc, etc, ad nausea) would dry up and blow away like aging dung...

Well, I'm not a big fan of government intrusion, so I couldn't quite sign on to the drug testing here.  If we were talking top level security or a very dangerous job situation, I could.  I just don't want to see the government doing this across the board.  I don't like to see drug testing of kids either on a normal basis.

Whenever I hear or see some leftist commentary about “corporate welfare” in the media from one such entity, I can never for the life of me figure out why the Republican doesn’t call the 501(c) Tax Exempt Corporation “corporate welfare.”

This aspect of your comments is something I heartily agree with.  The 501(c) scams and the government relation to them are good areas to focus on.  And some of them like the conservancies get a lot of government money and land to screw around with.  I'd end that in about two seconds.

I don’t know anything about McCain’s family, but I do get an unhappy feeling when I see his wife. She’s very tense or troubled or something... just don’t know.

Good point there. He would be shaky on WOT. His support of amnesty and all the other perks for illegals shows him clueless re Homeland Security, which is part and parcel of WOT.

McCain voted against permanently barring violent gang members and terrorists from the US. That is insane. (The Washington Times, editorial, January 14, ‘08)

David, I know what you’re referencing. I wear them myself. On my moniter the gray comments are easily read. On some monitors they are not as easily read.

I attempt to provide the intitial comments that I am responding to in gray, so that people don’t have to look back and forth.

I am sorry your moniter doesn’t bring the gray out so it is easily read. The contrast is what I am looking for, and I wish it wasn’t a problem for some of you.

I do appreciate your comments on the subject.

You were pointing something fake out, without any attempt to determine or question its authenticity. Rumor-mongering (should) have no place on FR.

Thank you for your response Cricket. I would expect you to defend your point of view and you’ve done so. You make some valid points. For one, the economic stimulus and steady hand Bush used post 09/11, did turn our economy around amazingly fast. He doesn’t get enough credit for that aspect of his presidency, and I am as guilty as anyone for not mentioning it.

Even part of his/congress’ spending could be justified in part for stimulating the economy, which benefited the nation in no small measure.

There was another aspect of his presidency that I failed to mention last night, and for the life of me I can’t recall it right now. He does deserve credit where credit is due, and my not mentioning some of the good things was unintentional.

Thanks again for the exchange of views.

I wanted to add one short comment to my response.

It is my opinion that there are times when winning is something like preventing all forest fires. Fires are necessary to create new growth and to clean up the forest.

I am still very much of the opinion that we need to burn away the national political forest. We need a new awakening and we are defeating it every four years IMO.

If RINOs are the best we can get, then it’s proof positive that it’s time to endure the short term inconvenience, and then get on to rebuilding a solid healthy environment.

And those of us who cannot endure RINOs would certainly agree.

Now, when there are no more of them to address, we’ll quit using the term.
