Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm going to vote for Thompson in the primary, but Rudy's going to get the nomination -- despite what my fellow Freepers say. I'll gladly vote for him in the general election.
I don’t think Guilianni wins the nomination. I live in Florida, his “firewall” and I haven’t seen a poster or a bumper sticker or heard a commercial. I saw Guilianni on TV last night and his pattern baldness and gray on the sides made him look like he had horns and his wierd tic open wide eyes thing didn’t help the impression. He claimed foreign policy experience as mayor of New York. The religious conservatives oppose him over abortion and gay marriage. The Southerners also don’t like in general terms New Yorkers. Etc.
Me too. With all his faults, I believe Rudi would make the best CIC during very perilous times, To me, national preservation trumps the need ideological purity. Fighting radical Islam and its domestic apologists and opportunists (liberal Democrats) requires a strong President. McCain comes in second. Then Thompson, followed by Romney. Any of the GOP candidates would be better than any of the Democrats. Sitting out this election because the nominee—any GOP nominee—is not perfect will result in a perfect victory for liberals.
Rudy is losing in all of the states preceding Super Tuesday.
If he doesn't get the momentum then, he's toast.
FYI: Rudy can't win the general.
