Think about it, now. If "normal stuff" is forbidden, that would imply ALL video games and CDs and DVDs. Now, I can see it being possible to hide from Mom's view certain music CDs and certain video game CDs and certain movie DVDs, and only watching/listening/playing those banned items with the sound turned down low in your own room. But it's virtually impossible for a kid to hide for long a video game console, CD players, and DVD players. This implies that these pieces of electronics did exist in his home. This in turn implies that only items on the verboten list were banned in the home, and that music and video games and movies that the mother defined as "normal" were allowed.
For instance, I'll venture a wild guess that albums with lyrics like, "Satan lord, your throne among the flames of the abyss. Evil one, the mighty lord of hell... Satan" didn't make the cut in her home, into her "normal stuff" category.
Therefore, I am still awaiting a single example of this mother's alleged child abuse.
And no, I'm not a liberal or a libertarian. So quoting to me the atheists' currently favorite claim that "teaching any kind of religion to children is, in and of itself, child abuse" will not win me over.

My Mother was fully into both Bill Gothard's programs AND the Charismatic movement. She followed Peter Wagner, Mike Bickle, Joyce Meyer, Ted Haggard of New Life Church, Cindy Jacobs, Dutch Sheets and any other person who was popular in the Charismatic movement at the time.
In addition to all of Bill Gothard's insanity my mother was into all the charismatic/"fanatical evangelical" insanity. Her and her church believed that Satan and demons were everywhere in everything. The rules were VERY strict all the time. We couldn't have ANY christian or non-christian music at all except for a few charismatic worship CDs. There was physical abuse in my home. My mother although used psychotropic drugs because she somehow thought it would make it easier to control me(I've never been diagnosed with any mental illness either). Pastors would always come and interrogate me over video games or TV watching or other things. There were NO FRIENDS outside the church and family and even then only family members who were in the church. You could not trust anyone at all because anyone might be a spy.

I’d have to go back over his rants to come up with a “single case of . . . abuse.”
However, it was clear from my reading the rants . . . that IF 10% OF HIS ALLEGATIONS HAD ANY SUBSTANCE AT ALL . . .
he lived in a very twisted, tortured philosophical, existential, relational, values, . . . behavior/punishment night mare of a straight jacket. He could not win. He saw no durable, effective, tangible hope.
And, sadly, it’s one I could easily identify overmuch with for comfort. Thankfully, my mom was not that skilled and persistent or comprehensive in her craziness in such matters.
IF, IF, IF, IF as hinted, slightly vividly in his writings, there was anywhere near the level of even “mere” EMOTIONAL incestuousness that seems to be inescapable in his writings . . . and POSSIBLY worse . . . then the abuse really goes off the scale in several directions and respects to a high degree of intensity over a long period of time.
