ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Suppliers around the world are scrambling today to help out a Canadian company that produces much of the world’s medical isotopes as a global shortage forced thousands more patients across North America to indefinitely delay tests for cancer and other diseases.
Despite some glimmers of hope, harried doctors warned that a shortage of nuclear material the result of a prolonged shutdown of a federally owned reactor in Chalk River, about 180 kilometres northwest of Ottawa was getting worse with each passing day, and Canada was developing an ugly black eye as a result.”
