If John Howard loses his seat but his coalition wins, can he still be PM or coalition will have to nominate and select someone else? Thanks.
Theoretically, he can remain Prime Minister for around three months, and in that time, could contest a by-election to re-enter Parliament.
But I suspect, he would stand aside immediately, and Peter Costello would become Prime Minister.
