They generally go postal if graphics are added to these threads. Personally, I think they add a lot to the discussion.

Once upon a time there was some validity to asking the live threads be graphics free when broadband was rare. I still think it's nice to keep the size of the file to a sensible size - 100kb or so. They do add to the enjoyment of the thread.
