Turkish leaders have stressed that an offensive against the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, would not immediately follow the expected authorization. If the Turks only go against the Commie Kurds that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. I think most Kurds wouldn't lose any sleep if the PKK was out of the picture.

IF Turkey goes only after the PKK! However as in the past they have shown they are ultimately interested in destroying or at least subdueing the KRG aswell. That's unacceptable for US interests. The big bold Turkish move to destroy Kurdish ambitions is only kept at bay by our presence and engagement in Iraq. If we pull out (and the Dems are constantly letting the world know that THIS is what they intend) The Turks would running over Northern Iraq within a blip (of course the Kurds won't go down without a real good fight).
