It sure was a wonderful image of WWII-era Waterbury in the film.
Hard-working immigrants (forgive me for saying it...legal immigrants),
doing the sort of precision work/machining that is seen as a loser’s profession
in today’s USA.
I got my mom (nine years old in north-central OK on Dec. 7, 1941) to
watch Part 1.
I said to her (about the small town America vignettes): “It was a
simpler times.”
She said “You’re darned right it was!”
