Like it or not, the GOP should get behind Rudy 100% irrespective of what the wider spectrum of Conservatism thinks, irrespective of the finer points, irrespective of everything else.

Rudy is electable.

Unless this happens, get used to a HillBilly White House, for eight years. Get used to Barbra Streisand screeching “O Say Can You See...” Get used to it.

Easy for a non-conservative such as yourself to say.

Yes...I am in a quandry. Thompson-Guillani choice is a tough one. I will take any republican who can make sure Hillary is not our next president. I prefer what I hear from Thompson but think Guillani would be more likely to beat the dems.

Why? The GOP leadership hasn’t exactly repaid my loyalty in the past.

I am a conservative that supports Rudy. Frankly, the social issues listed like abortion, gay rights, etc. are almost incidental to Presidential leadership.
I know I will get some Rudy haters or perhaps just those that just prefer someone else, but Rudy HAS LEADERSHIP AND COMPETENCE.

We need both. I think several GOP candidates have some of both elements, and I can support most of the others. I respect those who like other candidates, but I do not like those who say they will never vote for Rudy, even if he is running as the nominee against Hildebeast.
That would be like sitting out the NIXON v. McGOVERN election. Imagine McGovern as President. The commies many have won.

I for one will never get “behind” the gun grabbing cross dresser. However, since I am no longer allowed to be a Republican according to W and Mel Martinez I guess it doesn’t really matter.

BTW I do not think Rudy is electable. His negatives in the West are stronger than anyone is talking about and I still question how strong his support is in the South. I am all too familiar with too bad choices for President.

Staying home or voting 3rd party punishes the leftward movement of the GOP. Electing RINOs rewards it.

If you want a second liberal party option, why don't you start your own instead of corrupting the nominally conservative one?

Agree 100%. The only consideration for GOP voters - IMHO - is to defeat the Clintons and the democrat party. This is essential for all of us and our national security. I don’t care a bit about abortion, gun rights, and the rest when it comes to keeping the Clintons out of the WH. That’s the overarching issue in 2008, and I hope GOP voters can see it.

"HillBilly White House"

Not sure if that's yours or not but that's perfect!

I second that.

The idea Hillary would be guaranteed a second term is ridiculous. But, a Hillary Presidency would almost guarantee Republicans gain seats and probably take over Congress again. In fact, her Presidency, would pave the way for a conservative revolution.

If Giuliani reaches office, we're GUARANTEED not to have a conservative in the White House for eight years. A Giuliani Presiency would also guarantee a shrinking Republican minority in Congress and no effort by Republicans to block the many liberal pieces of legislation he would propose.
