Protester removed from Fred Thompson event
CNN Political Ticker ^ | 07/25/07 | Steve Brusk

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.

Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.

The woman questioned Thompson as he talked to reporters. She asked him why he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and noted that the organization supported the North American Union with Canada and Mexico.

Note this is an excerpt.

By the way, it's easy to view the replies to a particular post. Here is a link to the replies to post #42.

As for Fred’s positions, please direct us all to a website where we all can see them.

Well, you could try:

http://draftfredthompson.com/index.php

http://www.imwithfred.com

I'm pretty sure these sites have been referenced numerous times on other threads about Fred. And, it's pretty easy to use Google to find these types of references.

“So unlike this site, that we belong to, they don’t come out and say, or spell out specifically what it is they support?”

Each task force will, of course, take a position, but to quote the link to the CFR that you apparently did not read:

“Once formed, Task Forces are independent. Task Force chairs, directors, and members are solely responsible for the content of their reports.”

Notably, said task force speaks for itself, not the other members.

Indeed, as linked above there are RESPONSES, generally critical, to said task force by other members.

Haven’t you ever seen a high school debate “RESOLVED: Immigration is Bad/Good” and then each side goes at it? It’s like Lincoln-Douglas debates for grown ups.

Oh, please. You’ve got to seek to become a member of that organization. Don’t split hairs.

Yeah, I want read something about us evil Jews. And Freemasons!

I was in the CFR for years (got too busy). I know what it is, and while I have no doubt there are nuts in the organization who would love a NWO (John Edwards comes to mind), I know there are plenty more who abhor such things.

It’s just a debate society.

Does anyone think that Maybe just maybe Fred joined CFR to actually discuss and find out different view points? Does anyone think he is being an honest member, and actually trying to bring up debate?

I happen to think he is.

So the CFR just basically sits around and debates, with nothing ever changing, with no power, or influence to change anything in regards to law, politics, government policies etc?

“OK, so since you knew right where to go for the YouTube link to the video I have to ask: Were you the woman in the article/video?”

No, she’s not me. I live in Columbus Ohio and have never been to Texas. Also, I didn’t know right where to go...I followed the link provided earlier here on the thread. Besides, I think she’s for Ron Paul.

How about all you fine, smart computer whizzes give us all one site that is officially approved by Fred Thompson-like his official site where we can know the positions are his?

Is that really so much to ask?

What? I gave you two links to websites with extensive information on Fred's policy positions, voting record, etc. Look them over and draw your own conclusions about "official statements" or whatever that means.

You are a Fredhead since when? You have been one of the few freepers pushing Ron Paul. I have not seen this type of pushing for you on Fred Thompson. If you truly are supporting Fred Thompson over Ron Paul, welcome to the light and leaving the dark side.

So the CFR just basically sits around and debates, with nothing ever changing, with no power, or influence to change anything in regards to law, politics, government policies etc?

Pretty much. http://www.cfr.org/about/mission.html

Founded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations is an independent, national membership organization and a nonpartisan center for scholars dedicated to producing and disseminating ideas so that individual and corporate members, as well as policymakers, journalists, students, and interested citizens in the United States and other countries, can better understand the world and the foreign policy choices facing the United States and other governments. The Council, which is headquartered in New York with an office in Washington, DC, does this by:

Convening meetings in New York, Washington, DC, and in other select American cities where senior government officials, global leaders, and prominent thinkers come together with Council members to debate and discuss the major foreign policy issues of our time;

Conducting a wide-ranging Studies Program where Council fellows produce articles and books that analyze foreign policy issues and make concrete policy recommendations;

Publishing Foreign Affairs, the preeminent journal covering international affairs and U.S. foreign policy;

Maintaining a diverse membership, including special programs to foster interest and expertise in the next generation of foreign policy leaders;

Sponsoring Independent Task Forces whose reports help set the public foreign policy agenda; and

Providing up-to-date information about the world and U.S. foreign policy on the Council’s website, CFR.org.

The extent to which the reports and publications of the CFR influence law, politics, and government policies could be debatable. If id doesn't have any influence, then I guess membership doesn't much matter; If it does have any influence then I sure hope that conservatives are taking part in the discussion, debate, and report generation so that conservative ideas are part of that influence.
