I suppose that its okay for the “Saints” to deride everyone else.....afterall, they are the saints.....
[Mitt Romney said Saturday that criticism of his Mormon religion by rival GOP presidential campaigns is happening too frequently.
Clearly, any derogatory comments about anyones faiththose comments are troubling. The fact they keep on coming up is even more troubling, Romney said during a fundraising trip in the home state of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. ]
Of course, once Romney pulls Mormonism off the table from criticism, then it is a tacit endorsement of his religion. It also means Scientologists, Muslims, HeavensGaters, Wicca, etc. should also be given a free ride.
Beyond that, Romney has a Mormon fundraising committee run through BYU and directed by one of the 12. Does this mean that Mormon fundraising and the quid pro quo that comes with it should be off limits?
Does it also mean that the Whitehorse Prophecy can never be mentioned by anyone, and a law to that effect will need to be made? Perhaps like Campaign Finance Reform, a candidates religion cannot be even mentioned 1 year before the election.
I just think it’s fascinating that religion can be surgically cut out of the process, so that one candidate can avoid scrutiny of his fringe beliefs. Religious freedom does not mean censorship of the discussion of ones religious beliefs.
National Review magazine made the observation that Mormons rejected polygamy (for what they were most controversial) over a century ago. It went on to say that Romney was one of the very few contenders who’s had only ONE wife. By the way, is Rudy working on his fourth yet? Or would it be the fifth - it’s hard to keep track.

Out of WHOSE line? Why? Tell me why I should have any fear of being an apologist for biblicist Christianity, and why should I not strongly urge that Mormonism is not biblicist Christianity?
Always have . . . always will. I believe Mormanism mis-dentifies Christ and preaches a false, devilish, gospel. “Another (false) Christ . . . another (false) spirit . . . and another (false) gospel” (2 Corinthians ch. 11, speaks of Mormanism, Watchtower (Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science (Mary Baker Eddie), and scores or hundreds of others.
Okay, to some that makes us guilty of hate crimes. That’s just the way we will have to be accused. It’s not with hatred that we take our stand; it’s with love for the Scriptures themselves and love for the Person and Work of our Blessed Savior.
I have significant issues with both the Mormon and Catholic faiths, but I would never refuse to vote for a candidate because they were a Mormon or Catholic. My vote is based on the individual’s positions on political issues and how they have behaved in the past to prove they truly hold those positions.
This is the biggest thread I’ve ever posted.
Very strongly agreed.
I think he should focus on Islam and what’s happening in London and how he feels about our open borders. Commenting on this issue only brightens the spotlight on whatever is being said about Mormon’s and the fact that he is one.
As an orthodox Christian, aspects of the Mormon faith trouble me, but attacks on the faith are far more troubling.
