If you want good gas mileage with performance, but minus people thinking you are a lib, go with a Mini. My wife has been bugging me for one for the past few months.

Wouldn’t want to drive one on the Interstate though.

Back in the 60s while a grease monkey, I remember workin’ on some of the originals. Could not understand why someone would buy a car that if you went to jam on the brakes, you would mash all three pedals at the same time!

My wife would definitely go for a Mini or a VW Beetle. She grew up in Europe and thinks her current Camry is too big though better for auling the kids around.

If I was to go for a pocket rocket, I might look at a Mazda 3 (or specifically, the MazdaSpeed 3).

I get 33 on the highway with my Honda S2000...can still go zero to 60 in a hurry (haven’t timed it) and 60 to 85 also pretty quickly.

At 85 I still have 4000 rpms to redline. Fun car and sporty too.
