April 26, 2007 -- Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama laced into Rudy Giuliani yesterday after the GOP front-runner sparked an uproar by declaring America would be more vulnerable to a terror attack with a Democrat in the White House.
Former Sen. John Edwards and the Democratic National Committee also joined in on the anti-Rudy romp, accusing him of politicizing the war on terror in a daylong brawl.
Giuliani chuckled about the swirl of Democratic outrage about his comments, which put the media focus squarely on his strongest point - his 9/11 performance.
"It sounds like I hit at least a triple," Giuliani told radio host Sean Hannity. "I was trying for a home run, but I think I got at least a triple - meaning I have got the three leading Democratic candidates attacking me."
The flap started after Giuliani said in a speech in New Hampshire on Tuesday night that the nation will defeat terrorism no matter who wins in 2008, but that the Democrats want to "wave the white flag."
He told the Web site Politico.com that America will be "safer with a Republican president."
... Giuliani insisted he wasn't questioning the Democrats' patriotism, but added, "Everything I said is absolutely true - they want to retreat in Iraq."
He claimed that the Democrats "do not seem to get the fact there are . . . really dangerous people who want to come here and kill us. That, in fact, they did come here and kill us twice, and they got away with it because we were on defense, because we weren't alert enough to the dangers."

I am by far NOT a fan of Rudy and will not vote for him in the primary’s, however with that said I stand by my statement.
Most if not all Republicans in office right now are spineless jellyfish and the ones that aren’t jellyfish have no balls.
Hunter has stepped out a little with his call for Reid to resign, but he must be feeling very exposed with no support from any others, and he also needs to step it up more.
America not only isn’t ready for a Dem in the White House, we cannot afford one, in more ways than one.
I haven’t chosen a GOP candidate for president to support yet, and I will support and vote for the GOP nominee. That said, I applaud Giuliani’s statements. Clearly they hit home because the rats are squealin’.
He’s been pretty on target, IMO.
He just doesn’t get the coverage that Rudy gets.
THe MSM is prepping Rudy for his eventual destruction.

I think most rank and file democrats are patriotic people. The dem leadership, however, has surrendered its patriotism at the altar of votes, time and time again. It is fun to see them react when called on it.

First you say no other Republican has the balls to step up, and when I show you that Hunter has, you say he needs to step up more.
Amazing how many so-called Freepers get miffed at that statement! It is the most important truth of our lifetimes!
What FReepers get "miffed" at is the idea that electing a liberal Democrat who simply happens to call himself a Republican is any better than electing a liberal Democrat who's at least honest about it.
I maintain it's actually worse, because if the Republicans won't stand up for conservatism, we know the Democrats sure as heck won't.
This is the vexing thing about Giuliani.
There's an earlier post this morning linked to a YouTube vid, showing Giuliani announcing the NYC lawsuit against gun manufacturers in 2000. Watching him, you'd think you're listening to Chuck Schumer.
Then he comes out with both guns blazing against our active enemies both here and abroad.
I have trouble reconciling these two Giulianis, unless it's that he's a superbly adaptable and cynical politician willing to cater to whomever elects him.

I couldn't vote for him either; I don't think he is "presidential," among other more important issues. However, he would make a stellar Attorney General. Talk about the perfect person for the perfect spot. He would drive the Dims crazy!
Like many others, I am troubled by some of Rudy’s positions on typically strong conservative issues (abortion, guns, etc). That said, the two main issues in the next presidential election are national security and supreme court justice nominating rights. On the national security issue I feel good about all of the GOP candidates, and none of the Dem candidates. On supreme court justice nomination power, I feel better about all of the GOP candidates than any of the Dem candidates, but I have concerns about what Rudy and McCain would do with nominations. I think Hunter, Romney and Thompson would likely nominate more conservative justices, in line with Alito and Roberts.
Gun control is not a hot topic in Congress (the dems are afraid of it), and I see states making the next forays into abortion legislation. Rudy is weak on those issues, but I think he would be strong on national security.
Amen, bro. I’ve said for two months now that the GOP candidate who FIGHTS the Dems and who is perceived as fighting the DEMS will win, hands down. I’d prefer to see Fred get in the race, but if Rudy is the only one who will attack the Dems forcefully and consistently, more power to him.
I knew Bush wouldn't do a damn thing about our borders either back in 2000... but I had to overlook it. I had to go with who would be the best candidate to stop the madness of 8 years of Clinton. Early on in the primary, I was leaning toward Alan Keyes... but Keyes never got out of the box.
I like Duncan Hunter right now... but come Nov. 2008 and it's Rooty against The Beast(or any Dem)... I'll vote Giuliani.
