Some people have a real problem with social conservatives, the Christian right, or whatever the prejorative is these days.
I think conservatism is alive and well in America, but it's stone cold dead in the media and in nationa politics. I don't know for sure why, but I suspect is because we compromised once too often.
You're not kidding.
I was recently called a "hater" by a Rudy shill for merely mentioning "judicial redefinition of marriage" as something I opposed.
I was a bit intrigued by the Giuliani option early on ... when it looked like Giuliani might move to the right on abortion and other issues.
But it didn't take me long to figure out that the Rudy movement ... and especially its manifestation on FR ... was all about marginalizing social conservatives in the Republican party.
Why those who despise conservative social values (like many of those banned recently) would want to be a part of such a movement, I understand.
Why some self-professed pro-lifers and social conservatives would want to be a part of it is beyond me.
And why anyone should be surprised that posters noisily shilling for a liberal candidate and attacking social conservatives on a conservative website should be asked to leave ... well, I can't figure that out either.
Tend to agree with you much. But there is also the lack of financial support for strong conservative candidates. For some reason people with money tend to support the most liberal candidates. Money picks the candidates on the menu for both parties.
This is somewhat anathema around here but a real conservative candidate won't see the light of day until there is campaign finance reform to balance the playing field.
