Mideast edition - The commander of the EA-6B Prowler squadron aboard the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower in the Persian Gulf was relieved of his command Monday amid an investigation, Navy officials said. Capt. Scott Stearney, commander of Carrier Air Wing 7, relieved Cmdr. Christopher Rankin, commander of Electronic Attack Squadron 140, "due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command," said Lt. Denise Garcia, a spokeswoman with the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain...

I’m thinking extra-marital affair, maybe with a subordinate. Just a guess, though.

http://www.navytimes.com/news/2007/04/navy_prowler_fired_070416/ Rankin is under an internal Navy investigation on unspecified charges, said Cmdr. Kevin Aandahl, a spokesman for the 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. Aandahl would give no details about the case because he said there is a chance Rankin could face criminal charges.

Stationed on her from 1992 to 1995 and loved it. Sorry the Commander was relieved. Hopefully he was just not right for the job (didn’t get along with the Admiral) instead of something more sinister.
To: 1rudeboy
Lets hope it is something stupid like that.

Only five days in command. Somthin’ ain’t right.
To: Fennie
Does anyone know why Cmdr. Christopher Rankin might have been relieved?
I don't recall any scandal as of late in the MSM related to this unit.
