I'm confused. Is being a Christian or a member of the Church of Christ a bad thing? I don't agree with everything that the Church of Christ teaches, but the "Main & Plain" things I do...like Christ died of the cross, was buried, and rose again in three days. Again I ask, "Is this a bad thing?"

I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump. I ran over and said: "Stop. Don't do it."

"Why shouldn't I?" he asked.

"Well, there's so much to live for!"

"Like what?"

"Are you religious?"

He said, "Yes."

I said, "Me too. Are you Christian or Buddhist?"

"Christian."

"Me too. Are you Catholic or Protestant?"

"Protestant."

"Me too. Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"

"Baptist."

"Wow. Me too. Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?"

"Baptist Church of God."

"Me too. Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?"

"Reformed Baptist Church of God."

"Me too. Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915?"

He said: "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915."

I said: "Die, heretic scum," and pushed him off.

No, being a member of the Church of Christ is not a bad thing unless you think following the instructions for salvation provided in the Bible is a bad thing.

If you cconfess your faith that Jesus is the Son of God, repent of your past sins and are baptised for the remission of those sins, you are a Christian starting a new life following Jesus through the days of your life. Jesus paid the price for man's sins since man can never be perfect enough to dwell with God. So God sent His Son as the one time pure sacrifice to pay for the sins of man. We just have to accept the ultimate gift of salvation and follow the instructions to receive the gift.

Confess your belief, repent of prior sins, be baptised for the remission of those sins and you arise to walk with Jesus the rest of your days.

Now - any that find fault with this - might do well to refer to the Bible - God's inspired word to find the answer, not to a creed developed by a few men, not by a human instilled with power over the masses, but go direct to God's Word - the Bible and find out for yourself what instructions are given.
