Bill Frist, former senate majority leader, former presidential aspirant, and current promoter of the idea of Fred Thompson as president of the United States, sends out an email this morning.
Thompson, current actor on 'Law and Order' and former Tennessee senator himself, is mulling a run for the White House, or so Frist would have us believe.
Here's what Frist is telling supporters:
Three things I need to share this morning:
I talked to Fred Thompson last night, really just to share with him the tremendous support that he has received from all of you who have blogged on the Volpac web site over the past 4 days. In your messages many of you have given specific suggestions, and I passed them on to him. If there are messages, or ideas that you'd like to get to Fred, write them below, to stimulate others with your ideas, and I will share them with Fred. Now is the time for big ideas ... big, true conservative ideas that rise above the fray. Fred is listening. He will carefully consider running over the next several weeks. His public statements exactly reflect what he is thinking inside.

That's a downside.
My sentiments exactly.

"During his first years in the Senate, Thompson also began his fight for campaign finance reform. In September 1995, he introduced bipartisan legislation, along with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI),"
FDT admitted that he was wrong about McCain-Feingold. But he was honest when he emphasized the fact that taking big bucks from special interests and then voting on measures which those same special interests have a big stake in is wrong.
Thompson is a straight shooter. The rest, except for Duncan Hunter, are all bull shooters...
Rudy has a lot in common with WJC. I know that's not a popular opinion to have---but when I worked at DOJ in the eighties Rudy was the US Atty for NY. My boss positively detested him, nothing personal, but he astutely pointed out that Giuliani only prosecuted cases that were likely to get good press; and was a camera hog to boot. Mind you, this was over 25 years ago, and he predicted that Rudy would be running for Pres one day. He also predicted that an unprincipled nobody from Arkansas would run for president one day. I never took anything that particular boss said lightly.
Fred would be the tallest US president ever. :)
A Frist endorsement bugs me a bit, but let's face it - he was well liked in the Senate and Frist is from Thompson's home state - of course he and Baker are going to be the guys he's close to.
LOL...gotta love that.
LOL...gotta love that.
He just looks like our next president.
Fred ...!
:) The drumbeat get louder..

If you'd like to be added to the Fred Thompson list, let Howlin or me know.
Poor Bill Frist. His stance on th border is one reason he's not in the big dance.
Your complete lack of objectivity tells me this must be a personal issue for you.
"Nobody actively supports baby killing"
Rudy does, and through your support of him (at least), you do...
