Yes, but it's better to err libertarian than statist. Libertarian dogma doesn't endanger our liberty but it is too idealistic to win elections.
Barry Goldwater was the last Republican who held the Constitution as the basis of his principles. Ronald Reagan came close and did a pretty good job.
The Republican Party will need a Reagan or Goldwater to have a chance of winning the next election and that's just not going to happen. Ron Paul is the only candidate who supports liberty and that's why I enthusiastically support him. My guy may not win the election but I won't have to feel like I've betrayed the Constitution with my vote.
