I don't blame them. The study of genealogy is incredibly rewarding, and there is quite a thrill in going back to the place your ancestors came from to find that they speak, move, and look like you, even at the remove of centuries. I'm speaking from personal experience here. Genes are amazing in the ways they are expressed.

Agreed. I teach a genealogy class at the library that focuses on the PROPER use of the internet. The web has been a double edged sword. It has saved alot of time for many, but on the otherhand, so many mistakes have been pepetuated, that I get more disgusted by the day.

It is neat, and rewarding. As a Scotch-Irishman it has given me a vast repertoire of excuses for my past inebriations, propensity to scrap, stubborness and other less savory behaviors! It's no surprise that my ancestors settled in a line through the Pennsylvania mountains, into the Kentucky hills and down into the Ozarks. We brought our clannish attitudes and whiskey with us. Some things never change. Once a Hillbilly (highlander) always a Hillbilly.

I agree, DNA testing is very exciting and fascinating!

I saw a piece on dateline or some show similar where a black man had his DNA tested. It showed that he was (dot) Indian. His family lived in New Orleans, and at that time all of the darker-skinned people lived together.

He was a professor, and his grown children were amazed! Quite interesting.
